This is MY Online Art Store

In 1952, my parents were among the pioneering Black families who helped integrate West Mount Airy, moving into 117 West Hortter Street just three months before I was born. That home became the foundation of my identity and our family’s legacy of service, education, and perseverance. My father, Detective Samuel P. Wyche, Sr., was one of Philadelphia’s first Black detectives and served as a bodyguard to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during his visits to the city. In 1971, I painted this portrait of our home as a tribute to the courage, history, and community it represents. Today, this image honors not only a house, but a living story of Black migration, achievement, and hope.
